The Knights is conveniently located in a most pleasant residential conservation area at the heart of St. Annes on Sea close to St. Anne’s Square, Ashton Gardens and the Promenade. A stone fronted Victorian Building, it is close to all the town amenities with a bus stop nearby, the sea shore within walking distance and Blackpool and its many attractions only 5 miles away.

The Knights was first registered as a residential home in 1984, by 1989 an extension had been added providing additional rooms and facilities. There is ample car parking and some of our Residents still maintain their own transport.

Registered with the Commission for Social Care Inspection  as a category 1 – Old Age we are able to provide Respite care as well as permanent and temporary Residential places. Our Registration Authority Inspection report is readily available and a copy can be supplied on request.

We have 27 single and 2 companion rooms, 24 of which have full en suite facilities, 3 have en suite toilets whilst 2 share a bathroom. Our rooms are comfortably furnished and equipped with TVs and nurse call system. We are happy for residents to bring in their own pictures, ornaments and small pieces of furniture. Our main bathroom features a jacuzzi whirlpool bath with an electric chair lift. Our second bathroom features a walk in bath with shower facility. An easy to use passenger lift connects all floors, with 2 spacious lounges and a dining room on the ground floor.

We enjoy a first class reputation for our choice of home cooked food. Residents may choose to have their meals in their rooms if and when they wish and we welcome friends and relatives at meal times. Menu choices are offered and any special dietary needs can be catered for.

We encourage our Residents to maintain their independence whilst providing 24 hour support and care. A varied programme of activities including shopping trips, bingo, keep fit, craft work, quizzes and our very popular tea parties with entertainment is available as well as organised outings and other provisions for quiet times.

Residents may of course choose their own GP and they along with District Nurses, Dentists, Opticians and Chiropodists are readily on hand. Residents may choose to retain their own private Chiropodist, Physiotherapist or Hairdresser.

The Home welcomes clergy of all denominations and respects the beliefs of all Residents and staff. Church services are held within the home on a monthly basis.

We believe each person we care for has a right to live with respect and dignity exercising choice. Consequently we aim to work as equal partners with each Resident to determine an appropriate level of care, both physical and emotional and to have systems in place to adapt that care as needs change. Daily reports are kept and care plans are reviewed by Senior staff each month. Residents have their privacy and independence but are secure in the knowledge that there is someone there for them 24 hours a day.

Our Care Manager has had many years experience working with the Elderly and maintains high standards of training and care. All staff undergo a comprehensive Induction programme and must understand our procedures and philosophy of care thoroughly as well as learning the skills required to provide the care our Residents may require. It is compulsory for all our staff to go through courses in Moving and Handling, First Aid, Fire Safety, Basic Food Hygiene and Health and Safety.

We feel our Home and Residents speak for us so please feel able to visit at any time. Alternatively you may contact our Care  Manager on Tel: 01253 782022 with any questions or concerns you have or for any practical advice on the processes involved in  care placements.
